You have the right to a prompt reply to your phone calls. You have the right to a set time for an appointment and that it be kept. You have the right to a smoke free, drug free, alcohol free work-force on your premises. You have the right to expect a properly licensed contractor. * You have the right to expect a contractor who carries liability and workers compensation insurance.* You have the right to ask for business references. You have the right to a written estimate, on the contractors letterhead with the company name, address, phone numbers and applicable license numbers. Included should be a detailed proposal on the scope of work, the amount of preparation to all surfaces being painted, the specific brand of materials and the level of quality of the materials should all be indicated. It should also include the amount of coats to properly cover and perform as per manufacturers specifications. You have the right to a scheduled start and completion date of your project. You have the right to a professional and competent skilled labor force on your premises. You have the right to complete protection of your property including all furnishings, fixtures, flooring, walkways, driveways, roofs, shrubbery, lawn and all adjacent surfaces. You have the right to a safe and organized working environment. This includes the safe handling, storage and disposal of any hazardous materials. You have the right to expect concise answers to your questions and continual communication throughout the term of the project. You have the right to a “Properly Painted Surface” as outlined in the Standards set forth by the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America. You have the right to expect clean, paint free surfaces such as door knobs, hinges, pre-finished items such as windows, fixtures, floors etc… You have the right to make changes before and during your project. You should receive a written change-order outlining all additional charges or credits involved in performing these changes. You have the right to have all contracts faithfully fulfilled. You have the right to expect all warranties in writing.
